Tuition and Financing Options
We understand financing treatment for your troubled teen is an important issue for most families. That’s why we have several options available to assist families in funding treatment for their child.
Low-Interest Education Loans
Eckerd Academy’ adolescent treatment programs for troubled teens are accredited alternative schools from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. This means it qualifies for low-interest, flexible payment K-12 educational loans.
Depending upon the amount borrowed, these K-12 education loans through KeyBank and Prepgate can mean that your monthly payments could be only a few hundred dollars* (see examples below). Our Admissions Department can assist you in applying for low-interest student loans and other educational loan options. For more information, you can visit the lenders' web sites:

*Loan estimate examples: $45,000 borrowed at 8.03% interest, 5% loan fee, 20-year repayment means $397.09 monthly principal & interest payment; $60,000 borrowed at 8.03% interest, 5% loan fee, 20-year repayment means $529.46 monthly principal & interest payment. Please note that these are estimates only and terms will be set by the lender.
Insurance
We advise parents to investigate whether their insurance policy includes benefits for residential treatment. Medicaid and most HMOs typically do not cover residential treatment programs. Although we do not bill insurance agencies directly, our Admissions Department can help you verify benefits and our Accounting Department can supply you with documentation and invoices to assist you in obtaining insurance reimbursement. Insurance companies typically require a recent clinical evaluation recommending the medical necessity of placing your child in a residential treatment program.
Please contact our Admissions Department, 800-914-3937, for more information. We'll be glad to help you.
Tax Deductions
Some of your child’s tuition may be tax deductible. You may want to consult your tax advisor regarding the possibility of tax deductions regarding your child’s treatment.
